Pledge Drive, 1996-02-12 is a program Joe Frank produced as part of the series Somewhere Out There.

Joe tells the listener about how much people that have donated to his show on KCRW have had their lives improved: Handbag recovered from the belly of a shark and the mail carrier was love at first site, old sick man losing sanity and returns to health, suicidal women has meets the man who is a better replacement of her husband.
One of the pledge drive premiums is the cassette collection Jewish Short Stories From Eastern Europe And Beyond, so Joe reads a series of made-up absurdly short stories with Jewish themes and says KCRW is working on a series of Assimilated Jewish Short Stories.
Joe lists the benefits of fictional levels of KCRW membership. Travel possibilities include Love Canal, Chernobyl, and Bhopal. Joining the KCRW family entails christenings, bar mitzvahs, brises, divorce settlements, and sibling rivalry.
A volunteer chokes on food from the buffet table; Joe will perform the Heimlich Maneuver only when a pledge goal is reached. The dreadfulness of procrastination. Guilt as a repellant emotion to use for pledge drives; nevertheless, Joe reminds listeners of his Disappointment Related Dermatological Syndrome.
