Talk:Main Page

Sorry about the unforseen outage this morning. We were down for about 3 hours. :-( Spblat 14:27, 16 Mar 2005 (PST)
"Featured Articles" grows up, a little
Since I can't leave well enough alone, I've changed the format of the main page again, in two ways:
- Added room for a little but of synopsis text to entice the reader to check out the latest featured article.
- Moved the actual content of "featured article" and "previously featured" to templates, the way wikipedia does it.
That second one means that editing the Main page should be a much rarer occurence. When you make an edit you're proud of, please share it with the world! Here's how:
- Edit Template:Featured Article and replace what's there with a very short synopsis of the article you're featuring.
- Edit Template:Previously Featured and add a link to the article you deleted in step 1.
- Trim "Previously Featured" to a maximum of 20 articles.
Let me emphasize: this is your website. If you believe your latest edit should be featured on the main page, do it. If it's been a week or so since anything new was featured, pick something and feature it! Spblat 14:58, 12 May 2005 (PDT)
Sounds good to me. The main page looks great! Shiro 03:56, 13 May 2005 (PDT)
Updates?
Is there a list of shows that aren't available on JoeFrank.com? Also, is there a news page? Heath issues have been mentioned on his site and I haven't seen any new shows (or even reposting of old shows) in months. --MrWoohoo 22:57, 14 Mar 2006 (PST)
- Welcome MrWoohoo! To respond: I don't have such a list. By all means, feel free to start one! It's woefully true that not much has happened in the Joe Frank universe lately. For that matter, if you'd like to see a News page, feel free to launch that too--I might even be convinced to craft a space for it on the main page (similarly to the way hrwiki (http://hrwiki.org) does it). In my own world, hearing Spacebeach while my iPod was in shuffle mode recently made me think warmly of Joe and his work, and then I was lucky enough to see Night Watch / Nochnoi Dozor / Ночной Дозор (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/), a bizarre and interesting movie for which Joe voiced the American version of the trailer. According to a 3/1/06 update on Joe's site, they're all still there, and Joe is "relocating". I hope he's well. Spblat 21:20, 15 Mar 2006 (PST)
- I'd like to extend another welcome to MrWooHoo. One idea might be to create a Not Available category and then include all the unavailable programs in that category. Sounds like it could be quite a useful list.
- Funny you should mention coming across Joe's music, Spblat. A couple of days ago I found myself sitting still at work thinking through a Joe monologue in real time. Took me a couple minutes to realize that my headphones were playing Bumpin' On the Sunset, a song Joe uses in several programs. (My recording is on Michel Petrucciani's Date with Time album. I have no idea which recording Joe uses. Never got around to trying to figure it out.)
- I saw Night Watch last week as well. I remember seeing the trailer and being intrigued by it before I'd ever heard of the movie. I'm sorry to say I didn't catch Joe's voice in the wild. Shiro 00:00, 19 Mar 2006 (PST)
